Why Should You Select Great Beginnings for Your Children?

Great Beginnings of Sugar Hill has been privately-owned and operated by Patty Perdue and Jim Newton since 2004. Jim and Patty utilize their educational and professional coaching experience as well as small business ownership experience in the daily operations of our center. Unlike other facilities, you’ll always find one of our owners on site to address any questions or address concerns that you or child might have.

With a professional background in Child Psychology and four children of her own, Director Charlotte Sigler ensures staff and children are happy and healthy as they move through our secure buildings, structured and free play areas.

Only certified teachers, some with advanced degrees, make up our staff of more than 45 professionals. You’ll find that 99% of our teachers are parents themselves. With tenure running as high as 15 years, employment with Great Beginnings is clearly a career choice they are passionate about. All teachers must be high school graduates, are CPR and First Aid Certified and receive 20 additional hours of early childhood education training each year (twice the State of Georgia requirement). We’re currently working with our staff members to obtain their CDA, which will become a requirement for employment starting in 2012.

Spanish is our second language at Great Beginnings of Sugar Hill and something that we include in our curriculum free of charge beginning in our infant B room. Every classroom has a bilingual teacher so that what your children sing in English, they also learn to sing in Spanish. Alphabets, meals and playtime skills quickly become part of their every day conversations.
Seventeen classrooms and seven age-appropriate outdoor play areas are housed in our two building campus along with a multi-purpose gymnasium popular with the kids for showing movies and watching talent shows as well as playing games ranging from basketball, volleyball and ping-pong to table-top games like air-hockey.

Staff-supervised computer access is available in every classroom starting at age two as well as in the gymnasium for access by kids doing homework in our after school program.
